I Wish I Had
there are scars from stitches-
ice cold ruby blood runs through your
veins...
as you smile anguish and grimace joy
free will was becoming,
and you were liberated;
drowning in aspirations with gifts
God gave in hope that you
would embrace them,
nourish them with care-
but
the sky turned grey and life blew away-
as the trees, in the breeze, sway in disarray
i was going to tell you i needed you-
but
it rained that day, thunder roared
and
i was too scared
i planned on giving you my compass-
but
it must have cracked when i got lost,
for at one time i too walked rough trails
so I leave town wearing a brown burlap gown-
maybe tomorrow will soften my frown
