I Will Try the Cobbler Devils Delight
I will try a Bahama Mama’s Llama, I say.
She arrives in a crystal goblet.
She’s shimmering pink with a touch of gold.
Wow! I say after taking a sip.
My eyes are blurry after the second one.
Now I shall try a Cobbler Devil’s Delight, I say.
My dinner companions try to stop me.
But I am determined. It is my birthday after all.
Danny’s Dare is my third drink.
I cannot see anymore. I hand my car keys to my friends.
They begin to make excuses as to why they cannot drive me home.
I will drive myself, I say. My words do not make sense.
One of them says “She can stay with me”.
I sing Over the Rainbow in my loudest voice.
They rush me from the restaurant, embarrassed.
Another successful birthday!
I sleep on my friend’s couch.
