I Will Organize

If I have the time, I will organize
my many drawers – in the kitchen first.
That junk drawer there – oh, it is the worst!
Bedroom, then bathroom. I’ll prioritize!

And when I’m done with that, where will I store
my poetry? Where will I put it all?
In the bookcase against my room’s long wall
or in my drawers, of which I need more?

Drawers for papers I’ve written things on;
drawers for doo-dads  (I’ve many of those);
for coupons and bills. How everything grows!
I lose things in piles for thinking they’re gone!

I just want to sit here making a rhyme,
not doing the mundane things I should do.
Too often I’ve been down this avenue -
but drawers I’ll do . . if I have the time!

Wow, nice going on an "enclosed rhyme" - not an easy feat! You did it. This one's my favorite!

Everyone will agree that poetry is more important than organizing drawers, Andrea. LOL

Lol! Andrea, I found your poem to be funny and well written. I also liked the “real” down to earth tone of this write. It was so relatable. Congratulations on your fine win. PS, I hope your New Year is going good thus far:-) Alexis

LOL I'm glad I'm not the only one who plans to organize but gets distracted with other things. You always do well in the unusual forms. Congratulations on your win! Hugs, Carolyn

You did a splendid job on this Andrea. I just couldn’t think of anything to write about. I just barely got a poem written for Kim’s contest as it may have closed already. I don’t know how you find the time to write for so many contests. I got to FaceTime with my little granddaughters today and it was so much fun. xxoo

I do not know how i manage to keep up either, Connie. I will have to force myself to sit down in about an hour from now and like Nike says: JUST DO IT (write at least five poems for contests to be able to post during this week). plus that means missing out on more precious time for my Netslix shows. haha

those mysterious drawers...gateway to another realm...land of lost things wanted most...where gremlins shout with glee and boast...of the things they've stolen from their hosts...bwahahahahaha

I have two drawers that perpetually are junk drawers - magically turning into junk drawers seconds after I clean them out to almost nothing. Doodads - yes, I have lots of stink'n doodads. This is terrific for the contest, Andrea.

I love how you circle back to the opening 5 words - clever! How many of us can relate to just wanting to sit and write poetry but feeling obligated to do our chores... GL in Tania's contest ~ J

I think it's something we're all guilty of Andrea, shove it in a drawer and forget about it lol. Good luck. Tom
