I Will Never Forget
I will never forget
The Sunday school my father taught,
Sitting cross-legged on veranda floor,
English, Maths,grammar and the lot,
hours of learning till bums went sore!
His skill in maths was one to admire,
He arrived at answers like computer,
He taught us all to his hearts desire,
His love for us masked behind a tutor!
We all gained from his teaching skills,
Achieved excellence in life careers,
Ageing dad quietly admired our drills,
Setting us for future like a wise seer!
He visited me in a hill station resort,
Working as a doctor in my first job,
We said goodbye as tears we fought,
He parted with smile between a sob!
I will never forget the day we said bye,
He passed away the following week,
Years since, that day creates a sigh,
As I write this, tears wet my cheek!

I will never forget poetry contest
