I Will Hold You

I will never let you down, I'll catch you when you fall
But I may have to walk away, so I can be there when you call
I can't promise you the dream come true, as much as I have tried
We both know those dreams must come from you
But I will hold you if you need to cry
I will hold you if you need to cry

Please understand that when it hurts too much
I must pull away, but if you search inside you'll feel my touch
And sense that connection that we made
Because even though I may be gone, my heart has never strayed
And I will hold you if you need to cry
I will hold you if you ned to cry

I won't ask you the reasons why
We don't even have to speak
If you need someone to understand
Then, baby, come to me
Reach out for a loving hand
Who will never ask for more
Than the trust you once had in me
When we once loved before

There will be times you cannot see me, hiding in your shadow
But I am here for you if you should need me, I hope you know
Please don't misunderstand my pain as anger, neither is it pride
It's just sometimes it's too much to take and keep it all inside
But I will hold you if you need to cry
I will hold you if you need to cry

For now, in silence, I must wait, and hope and pray for you
To find the happiness that you seek, when all your dreams come true
Know that when you shine, I will be there, watching you stand tall
And should you ever stumble, I will still catch you when you fall
And I will hold you if you need to cry
I will hold you if you need to cry

And I don't even need to know the reasons why...
