I Will Follow

I used to take the lead but today I will follow
All of the rules seem a bit much to swallow
Today was so good I have hope for tomorrow
Left in the dust are all of my sorrows.

When I was in control I thought I was content
Until the bill came I wondered where the money went
A voice inside says your wishes shall all come true
Sometimes I wish because I don’t know what to do.

I know I’m not dumb but sometimes I can’t comprehend
That all you receive results from all that you send
The thing with good intentions is you must follow through
The pieces shall join together, intentions are the glue.

The day may grow dark but the sun shall return
What you shall get is all that you have yearned
Sometimes you have to do what you don’t want to
But then purpose becomes defined in all that you do.

Because of all you do, you create this special bond
The ripples of change can move outside the pond
They reach new places and then beyond
The memories are kinder so you grow fond.

These days I choose to follow though it isn’t like me
Like walking toward the light so you finally can see
When you start to see you begin to understand
Life is what you make it so do the best that you can.
