I Will Dance
If I have the time, I will dance with the fairies,
above lily pads streaming down the reverie-
enveloped by a fawn glaring strangely at me,
lingering with repose, she leaps and tarries.
I would search for answers to my longings,
take a moment to try to remember who I am-
stack sandbags against the tide of pain’s dam,
and make sure I pack up life’s belongings.
Maybe I could fly to Italy…if I have the time-
visit Rome to see the artwork I adore.
Eat lasagna in Venice on a veranda; vines galore.
Encompassed in daydreams, wine and…rhyme.
If I have the time, I will try to remember
how she laughed when we were together.
I wish to think of her in fairer weather-
but it’s too hard to do, especially in December.
I have so many things to do, o, if only-
for at times mediocrity becomes routine.
but I must take a moment in prayer, serene…
thank God I’m never abandoned nor lonely.
