I Was There

I Was There I was in the Twin Towers, On that September Day. I steadied this mans hand, As he called his wife to say. “I won’t be coming home tonight, Now honey please don’t cry. I’m safe in the hands of God, I know I’m going to die.” I was with his wife, When he called to say his last goodbye. I held her up as she tried to understand his words, That he was going to die. His kids were eating breakfast, When the final call came. The lives of these children will change, They will never be the same. I heard a woman cry out for help, I said “I’ve been waiting for you many years. Of course I’ll show you the way home” As I began to wipe away her tears. I was on all four of those planes, In every seat and in every prayer. I was with the crew as they were overtaken, I was in the hearts of all believers there. I want you to know that I saw every face, I knew every name, though all did not know Me. Some met Me for the first time, And I set each of their souls free. I did not place you in the towers that day, You may not know why, but I do, you see. However, had you been there in that explosive moment, Would you have reached out for Me? ©2010 Lynn B. Glover
