I Was Never a Child

Born with a slap.. both eyes opened.. I could see.. what the world outside.. had waiting for me.. I was never a child.. it's no mystery.. I paid my dues.. walked without shoes.. ate from a can.. never played in a band nor on the beach in the sand.. I wore secondhand clothes.. had all my fingers and toes.. to carry.. the heavy loads.. I learned to read.. and was kept down by a creed.. only they.. could succeed.. I walked alone.. had no home.. no one to trust.. nowhere to belong.. This is my song.. I Was Never A Child D.C. 03/12/16
