I Was Ignored

I always felt guilty for being ignored.

An entire life of sitting in my bed, bored.

Is this really all I have become?

A person shaped by ignorance, a person who turns to crumbs.

As I learned to venture into a new world where help is available-

I can’t help but wonder what my life would be like if I wasn’t disabled.

I can’t help but feel for the ones who lived a life that they couldn’t define.

And even though my therapist is kind-

It feels like I don’t have a past sense of self.

And my future feels just out of reach on a shelf.

I still have those childlike tendencies.

That I fear will allow me to be found out- creating new enemies.

Even though I have learned a new life of where I am restored.

I sometimes wish that when I was young, I could have come forward.
