I was blind but now I see

We have all heard the words
I was blind but now I see,
But thoes words never
meant very much to me.
I never needed glasses
I could see quite well
So it didn't make much sense
As far as I could tell.
I never thought much of it
In all my 35 years,
But when I finally understood
It brought me to tears.
I have always went to church
I have always believed
But it didnt quite sink in
Until God got ahold of me.
It hit me out of nowhere
Sitting in my room
If I didn't change my life
I was headed straight for doom.
I heard it loud and clear
When God spoke to me
I was not being who he called me to be.
I was living a life of sin
Although I couldn't see
Then he opened my eyes
And i was finally free.
Who I am today
Is not who I have always been
My life changed when i let
My savior in.
Now when i hear the words
I was blind but now I see
I give thanks to God
for the grace he gave to me

That moment happened 36 years ago for me. I have never looked back, nor do I want to.
