I Wanted

I wanted to hold your hand today, as you stood by my grave side,
I wanted to wipe away your tears, as you broke down & cried!
I wanted to hold you close, but you didn’t know I was there,
I wanted you to hear me, when I said that I still care!
I wanted you to feel my touch, as I brushed my hand across your cheek,
I wanted to come home with you, to be there, week after week!
I wanted you to hear me, when I whispered in your ear,
“Please don’t cry sweetheart, I’ll always be right here!
So I shouted out “I Love You”, before you left today,
I think you may have heard me, because you smiled as you walked away!
