I Want To Fly
Give me wings ,I want to fly!
Want to live, before I die.
The vast green field summons me,
My soul wants to fly, there I want to be.
These mundane clutches are dragging me down
And the free spirit gives it a frown.
The lush green fields drive me crazy
Oh God! I’m so busy.
My soul leaps to the childhood memories,
I really repent to be grown up, losing those treasuries.
Early morning bruised knees, in the cycle ride,
Were the hard earned scars of pride.
Gully cricket matches, every kid a born cricketer,
Broken walls were witness of the meaningless chatter.
Scorching sun of Indian summers, seemed cooler
Each friend were each one’s solicitor.
I wish we had an option of ‘retreat’
Re-visiting the childhood would have been the greatest feast.
When the bleeding wound was the greatest injury,
Now millions of bank balance, still the heart is in penury!
Hiding a broken glass from Maa was the greatest secret,
Losing that innocence is the life’s greatest regret.
Lush green fields of the childhood days,
When mystery was the refraction of the sun rays!
Give me the wings to fly,
Because, once more I want to live, before, I die.
