I Want To Cry

I WANT TO CRY
Shreds of a broken life
Pieces unfulfilled
A genius unknown
Destined to be alone
Do we cry?
Tears have been shed
Do we grieve?
Grief is the reality
Sadness lurks
Behind the cheery façade

Joy is a dream unfulfilled
Loneliness; a permanent companion

Eyes brimming with unshed tears
As the soul weeps with abandon

A square peg in a round hole
Never complete, never whole

Just plodding through
Wading through life

I want to cry

I really want to weep

Perhaps my soul will be unburdened
Freed from the pain of suppression

Please help me cry;

These unshed tears are a burden
Should I pierce my eyes with nails?

So perhaps I can bleed tears?

I want to cry….

          I want to cry….

                    I want to cry
