I Walk On
Listen to poem:
A ghost still lingering in my head, a shadow of what once was
Echoes of your voice, did I hear amongst them a mournful sob
I walk on, I walk on, I walk on
There is no point in looking back; I can’t change what can’t be
My heart is broken, but at least this broken heart remains free
I walk on, I walk on, I walk on
Down by the river side, my bare feet leaving prints in the clay
Remembering your love from a better time, and a better day
I walk on, I walk on, I walk on
A storm rising, rain wiping away my foot prints, they are gone
With it the hearts on the dry ground that you had once drawn
I walk on, I walk on, I walk on
Swollen waters rise, taking my hurt of you further down river
Of love that just for me that you would or never could deliver
I walk on, I walk on, I walk on
I walk on, I walk on, I walk on . . .
