I Try

I try but find I don’t like me
I’m not the soul I want to be
What I am, not what you see
Search inside, and you’d agree

I’m lost, its dark, this life has cost
Lines life’s drawn, without thought crossed
In turmoil’s depth I've failed to cope
Along the way I lost all hope

Within I strive to reach the light
But chosen solace slows the fight
I try to do what’s good, what’s right
So hard to win, when day’s like night

Self-pity grows from small a seed
All I am, not what you read
Patience, love and time I need
I try but find I don’t like me, I struggle on, I must be freed
