I Touched the Stove

I touched the stove
And I burnt my hand
On a dream that was lost
On an ancient plan
When the fireless soul
And the street did mix
On a broken life
My heart did fix
And when numbers crossed
And trees did blow
How my heartache soared
And my mind did know
Over breathless nights
And a faraway glance
I would give it up
Just for one more chance
