I Thought

I thought I heard a voice
Was that Jesus? Mohammed? Buddha? or just me
God so much choice
Which one prophet is the one to set me free

I thought I had a choice
Who to believe those three or just me
God I’ve got a voice
Stand up the prophet and set me free

I thought that I could choose
What was right or I believed what was wrong
God don’t make me abuse
My God given right to be here and belong

I thought I could make sense
Of the word that I had to understand
God don’t put me on the fence
To work out what you had planned

I thought I had free will
That lets me have my own choice
Your son stood on that hill
So that we all could hear his voice

I thought I heard my mind
Trying to understand these words I’m writing
God I’ve been so blind
It’s your words all the time I am righting

I thought I heard a voice
It turns out it was mine all the time
God I made the choice
It’s better for my own light to shine
