I Thank My God
I Thank My God
I heard you in your morning prayer -
Seen you raise your hands in praise;
Overheard your voices sing to God
Ev’ry hour of the day;
Watched you hold a dying hand -
Feed the hungry and the poor -
Then saw you visit prisoners -
Welcome strangers at your door.
And, I think my God
When I remember you.
In the silence of the night
You remembered those in need;
You clothed the homeless wanderers -
Shoeless and threadbare;
Gave a cup of water
To the sick and thirsting souls
Then carried a companion’s cross
Reached out - embraced their pain.
And, I think my God
When I remember you.
Listened as you taught the children
About the love of God;
And, in the face of darkness
You made choices to choose love;
The memory of these miracles
Inspires me to do the same -
And how could I not raise a prayer
To thank my God for you?
And, I thank my God
When I remember you;
I thank my God
For all you say then do;
I thank my God
For your encouragement
Oh, I thank my God.
