I Thank My God

I Thank My God I heard you in your morning prayer - Seen you raise your hands in praise; Overheard your voices sing to God Ev’ry hour of the day; Watched you hold a dying hand - Feed the hungry and the poor - Then saw you visit prisoners - Welcome strangers at your door. And, I think my God When I remember you. In the silence of the night You remembered those in need; You clothed the homeless wanderers - Shoeless and threadbare; Gave a cup of water To the sick and thirsting souls Then carried a companion’s cross Reached out - embraced their pain. And, I think my God When I remember you. Listened as you taught the children About the love of God; And, in the face of darkness You made choices to choose love; The memory of these miracles Inspires me to do the same - And how could I not raise a prayer To thank my God for you? And, I thank my God When I remember you; I thank my God For all you say then do; I thank my God For your encouragement Oh, I thank my God. Based on Phil 1:3

Sam, so glad to see this on the winner's podium this morning. It is a great message to start the day with. I like the twist with 'I think my God' and 'I thank my God', whether this is about one person or an amalgamation of saints you have admired, it is a tribute to them that they would cause you to think of God or thank him for their ministry and example. Although I'm sure they were not attempting to be noticed or acknowledged, just serving God quietly. An edifying poetic expansion of Phil 1:3.

You are right! This is all about the unsung who feed, shelter, visit, clothe and do what ever they can with whatever they have. It is one of my favorite lyrics! Thank you dear friend.

Demetrios, thank you. This lyric makes me think of all of the people in this world with ministries that will never win an award or make the evening news. It also makes me think of your ministry of encouragement for us on, or in, the soup! Thank you my dear friend. Blessings!
