I Tell My Heart Another Lie

I'm over losing you.
It doesn't matter now.
I've lived with all the tears and pain
And got over you somehow.
But, my heart has not been told
That you ever said good-bye.
So, when it asks about you,
I tell my heart another lie.

I tell my heart a lie.
I'm good at that, you see.
At least, I never hurt my heart
The way that you hurt me.
Though I sometimes think it wonders,
I'll never let it cry.
So when it asks about you,
I tell my heart another lie.

I just can't tell my heart
That you no longer care.
When you were mine, it was content
Just knowing you were there.
And, when you left I asked you
Not to tell my heart good-bye.
So, to keep my heart from finding out,
I tell my heart another lie.

I tell my heart a lie.
I'm good at that, you see.
At least, I never hurt my heart
The way that you hurt me.
Though I sometimes think it wonders,
I'll never let it cry.
So when it asks about you,
I tell my heart another lie.
