I Still Need You So Much Father

Always telling me how proud you were
In your eyes I could see you meant it for sure
You did everything you could for me
Always striving to be the best Dad you could be

A person always dear to my heart
I still wonder why we had to part
You always carried me on your hands
Always being true to me and being there

You never said a bad word to me
Always motivating me to be the best I can be
A love for me like no other
And being cared for by my Father

You always knew what to say
To brighten up the saddest day
No matter how much my day would suck
You mend it all with a Fatherly hug

I miss how we used to sing
And the comfort your words would bring
Dad, I still need you so much in my life
And not having you here sometimes cuts like a knife

You never failed me or let me down
You treated me like a princess with a golden crown
Now people tend to take me for granted
And I know that’s not what you ever wanted

They hurt me sometimes and they fail to see
What you always saw in me
I cannot always be who I want to be
And those days I wish the most that you were here

To mend your youngest daughter’s heart
Together fixing every part
Making you tea in your favourite mug
Fixing everything with your Fatherly hug

I still need you so much Father
Why did you leave me, my sister and Mother?
I wish they had visiting hours in Heaven
Where for only a few hours we can be together

Treasure the memories, B. They will soften the grief, and time will heal the pain. How fortunate you were to have a father who loved and encouraged you. Hold that love in your heart forever, and it will grow and multiply as you one day share your love with your own children.

This is one of those poems that just tugs at the heart. We can all relate to losing someone too soon. But, those good memories of your Father will always remain... A truly beautiful and moving write, "B". Very nicely done!

this is so lovely. And sad he is gone. I never had this in my life, just a father who wasn't really there. You had something very special. Just love the special final touch of wishing for visiting hours in heaven.

This is very touching, and beautiful in content, Bee! This tribute to your late father comes from the heart; the loss will never heal completely...but at least you have lovely memories to cherish. One day you'll all be together again. Take care. // paul

A monument erected to your father with verses unparalleled in beauty and content! Unfortunately or fortunately that is the lot of mortals! No matter how many years pass your father present would be in your heart! For me, as I say in a short poem: " Death is just a pillow upon which the soul rests for a while dreaming of the life to come! Excellent work, your father would certainly be proud of you, dearest B!

Beautiful and a very touching write, BE. Fathers and the people we love will always make us sad when they leave for good. My deepest sympathy...I was wondering what happened to you, one of the very first who welcomed me to Soup. Glad you're back. Hugs and smiles all the way from the thousand isles. :D Kim

Thank you Kim for your kind comment. Like you said it is sad when someone leave for good. He left us almost four years ago, but I still miss him so much. If only there were visiting hours in heaven hey. I have been busy the last couple of months so I haven't been writing in a while until today, but I will always come pop in to see what my Soupers are up to. Have a blessed day and again thanks for the comment. Lots of Love "B"

How fortunate you were to have such a wonderful father. Remembering the good times will lessen your grief. Writing about him will also dull the pain. The strength and assurance he gave you will always be with you. All the best.
