I Still Need You
When do you ever stop being their child
Or needing them along the way
A grown woman I am now
Yet, I still need you to this day
When I’m sad I still need you
To talk through my pain
To hear you say those reassuring words
“It will all be ok” once again
When I’m stressed I still need you
Your advice and support
To guide me in the right direction
With my confused worried thoughts
When I am happy I still need you
To share in my elation
Just to have a cuppa together
Full of laughter and conversation
When I am unwell I still need you
To hold your small soft hand
The pure comfort that gave me
No other ever can
I still need you in every way
That will never be replaced by another
I will need you til my dying day
For I will always be your child and you my mother
