I Started a Joke
I STARTED A JOKE
(But no one is laughing)
Don’t rile me
I’m different you see
For my name is Garry Lee
Full of haughty hypocrisy.
Tried not to change
When I lost my virginity
But my genes so tight
Did but scream out that night
Told me my gender
Should be a Glenda.
So I dream
Yet a joke to all it seems.
At midnight I fantasize
Becoming one with my mirror
Metamorphosis takes place
Opens up a whole new world
To chase,
For I’ve no need to focus
Having said the magical words
Hocus-pocus
from holy hell I’ve broke free
For I am now she
The beautiful, the delectable
Sandra Dee.
