Notes About The Poem

I Stand Here Now

I stand here now- the winter of my life,
   amazed so fast its seasons quickly flew.
Just yesterday, those days were free from strife;
   in fields, I ran beneath clear skies of blue.

Just yesterday, real love swept me away
   where roots were planted deep inside my heart;
led to the joys of motherhood's bouquet
   that blossomed in the spring of my life chart.

When summer brought a lush and fuller time,
   another generation came to be.
Fruit of my fruit, with each, came joy sublime;
   sweet gifts of life- I love wholeheartedly.

Soon, Autumn found me in the golden sun
   of harvest time to reap more fulfilled days,
with new creativeness and joyous fun-
   relaxing with the gifts of its bright phase.

I stand here now- my winter days are here.
   Though firm, I stay- I ponder the next stage-
for winter's fickle; when she leaves- unclear.
   But, until then, with life, I will engage.
