I, Spy

Face against the door,
Pressed tight.
Trying to hear, to see.
Cold night.
Straining, reaching,
Tippy toes,
Breathing, barely,
Through my nose.

Hushed muttering,
Lips fast,
Heart rattling. Too loud.
Moment passed.
Captured words, tones,
Hurting hard,
Stifled tears, lump in throat,
I hate this part.

Suddenly shivering,
Small noise,
Breath kept tight,
Holding poise.
No one noticed, looked,
No ones cares,
My cupboard inconspicuous,
Beneath the stairs.
