I Shall Hold Your Hand

Love, I shall hold your hand - but not yet An invisible enemy is posing our lives a threat Filled with care and fear, I dare not touch Anyone of us suffering, I cannot watch. Let’s enjoy the romance like we once had Rejoice in the sound of our beating hearts It’s time again you read my eyes Feel the love you can see but cannot touch. We will have to wait We will have to isolate We will have to be selfless But we can’t be heedless. The borders have closed But opened our minds- Reckless and careless we’ve travelled, So far, so long… the journey of life. Everything got petty When we understood the value of life How have we for so long, Turned a blind eye?! The animals are moving freely But humans are filled with fear We have been so inhumane and deaf To disregard their cries and ignore their tears The air pollution is serious We must have now learned When the virus in the air - Is trying to penetrate our lungs. To fight an unhealthy enemy with all its will The world has come to a standstill Let all fall - the economy and the disguise But the humanity from each core and corner arise For the coming generation, We will leave an exemplary fight, One that showcases the togetherness for humanity And exhibits the strength of unity. Dear, I shall hold your hand - but not yet Let us win against the COVID-19 dread There will again be Love in the air And we will be breathing free again everywhere!!
