I Say

I say to be yourself,
but I am i trying to be someone else?

I say to be A leader not A follower,
but am i following?

I say everyone is unique in their own way,
but do i believe I am unique?

I say i am a confident person,
but am I really inside?

I say i'm not scared to speak my mind,
but do i always say what I feel?

I say sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me,
but do words really get to me on the inside?

I say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger,
but do i feel stronger or weaker from pain?

I say everyone is beautiful in their own way,
but do i believe i am too?

Just because that's what they say,
doesn't mean that's how they feel.

What about you? your answers?

I made a vow to myself to never be embarassed about what I do, try never to pass people without a hello and always be truthful about what I feel. Trying to keep this vow has made me a happier and different person. Thanks for sharing your poem. It helped to remind me of these things.
