I Said a Prayer

I Said a Prayer

I do not have the answers
And it breaks my heart for you
You have to decide for yourself
What it is you need to do

You could look back and see
But looking back is not too good
Today is all you truly have
To figure out if you shouldn’t or should

I could tell you all the things I did
When I had demons like yours to face
But the answers I had are not for you
Mine were a different time and a different place

I have lived through all the sorrow
And pain no one should know about
I was given an inner strength
I can tell you it really helped me out

But I didn’t get the help from a friend
The turmoil I had l was inside my head
And I thought maybe it would be better
If I just gave up and was found dead

That is what pain and heartache did to me
Even my soul lay torn, broken and bare
I am still not sure why I felt such a need
But I knelt down, bowed my head, and said a prayer
