I Remember the Way It Was

I remember the way it was not so long ago
It seemed like a movie and I was the star of the show
My love for her blossomed, much like a flower grew
Everything looked so different like it was brand new.

I remember she would call me five times a day
I hung on every word, my love grew every day
It didn’t matter what it was or what she would say
I remember the way it was I wouldn’t want it any other way.

I remember her smile how it would make sadness disappear
I remember the hope she had even when the end looked near
A kiss and a hug would bring my world to its knees
I hope to God, that I shall never forget these...

Although we aren’t together she still lives in my heart
I remember all the good times when I start to fall apart
She opened my heart to so many possibilities
I hope that she knows she shall always be special to me.

I remember the day, I just couldn’t say goodbye
I drove off in the sunset with a teardrop in my eye
The sadness seems to go away, when I remember all the good
I wish in my heart I could change it, but saw I never could.
