I Paused For a Second

I Paused for a second I paused for a second,to see what this means to me. I open my eyes, yet they don't see. The clock on the wall, time just marches on. Paused for a second, then everything's gone. I paused for a second, to consider my fate, Finding your place as you step to the plate. Hope that a second isn't to late, Looking for something, to wipe clean the slate. I paused for a second, to see where I am? There's so much in life, I just don't understand. A face is revealed, that was once behind a mask, Destiny intertwines, with things from the past. The sun is still shining, yet in comes the rain, Sorrow is redeemed in the shadows of pain. Though things have become, they still fade away. Yesterday and tomorrow, blend in to form today. I paused for a second, I was looking for home. I stand at the doorway, but I 'm there alone. The gateway to hell, is scattered with bones Skeletons and demons, that live in the night, They flourish on darkness, live with fright. I paused for a second then there was light, I start to understand, this transition from night. Colors return, to a once darkened soul, What the future has in store, well nobody knows. I paused for a second the seeds start to grow. I paused for a second, then the vision was there, Wrapped inside kindness, though nobody cared. I see from the hill to the valley below, The vision starts to grow, as the seeds are sown. I paused for a second, then black turns to white, It seems there's something but it's nowhere in sight. Maybe it's somewhere up around the bend, I start to feel peace, as my heart starts to mend. I paused for a second, then I' am somewhere in between. Somewhere in between reality and a dream. I imagine a life that is better than this, I thirst for a world, but it's all hit or miss. I look at the battlefield, the silence within, It looks like the end, yet start to begin..
