I Pass This Now To You
Summer evening, patio, warming breeze
Children laughing, oh, the sounds of fun
I’m reminded of what is most important
It is not the day, but when the day is done
The smiles on faces, the sounds of joy
Not so much children, but what they show
Repressing not, their feelings true
Is what we adults should always know
The time we have, so precious, short
Is better spent with joy of heart
Learn from laughter, season’s warmth
Learn from children, what they impart
The day’s importance, is not the day
It’s not the money or stress earned
It’s happiness, a sound filled heart
This I say, for I have learned
