I Only Wrote

I watched and I saw
How pride sat on their toes
Since they were the learned
All I knew was prose
They came and they suffered
And I only wrote

I watched and i saw
How they were united
And I was alone
They're strength was in numbers
My weakness exposed
Since I was the silent and only they spoke
They had all the best words
And I only wrote

But self-righteous
Masters they suffered and stuttered
Still wise words they uttered
And I only wondered
How sacred were these simple souls?
That goodness craved their muddy soles
I watched them float
And still I wrote

Blissfully blinded and salted with pride
I was the wretched and they were the wise
I was the darkness and they were the light
They walked with rightness
And I never tried
