I Never Say 'I Love You'

I never say ‘I love you’
And I wish you’d take it back
When your lips form those words
Because I know you don’t mean it
Though you swear you do
And it’s taken six years, of you,
Behind steal bars
And of me,
Refusing to use my visitation rights
To trust your feelings
And to have faith in my own
And why do I say ‘I love you’ now?
Because life’s too short not to
