I Never Missed You More

Tonight I reached to touch you
but, found you weren't there.
I looked and tried to find you --
couldn't find you anywhere.
And I felt so alone, all by myself --
just heartaches to the core.
Though your spirit touched my lonely heart,
I never missed you more.

Yes, loneliness surrounded me --
this night away from you.
But, it's really not that different --
nor really all that new.
But, sometimes, I feel a need to say
what I may not have said before.
Tonight my heart was lonely --
and I never missed you more.

Time just crawls when you're not near --
I'm trapped inside the minutes.
And my soul just cries in search of time
I can spend with you there in it.
Tomorrow I will find myself
and face what it has in store.
But, tonight, I think that you should know
I never missed you more.

There was just a contest with a "longing" theme. But, I think it may have ended already. This poem would have been perfect for it...This is similar to my poem "Love Will Triumph". It just won a first place a few days ago!
