I Never Asked

I never asked to b alive, I never had a dream to strive
I was never happy to just survive I never had a place to thrive

I did enough to make it through I did the best I felt I could do
if offered the chance to try again I would use my voice stand up complain

I was never as good as I could be I had may faults no one else could see, I was true to all others except for me

I was a good friend to the rest they know, the choice that I make is the choice to go.

"I was true to all except for me" - there is such a sad trueness to this line, I think we have all felt this at one time or another. I can understand this poem at a soul-level.

Mental illness is such a real thing, but so too is living for the needs of others first as so many do. Thank you for reading it, and commenting.
