I Needed You Badly To Breathe Life Back In Me

This world had me down beaten and betrayed
But you lifted me up with air that you saved
When it tried to crush me with all of its might
You intervened with your powerful light

I was dead inside and it was easy to see
I needed you badly to breathe life back in me

When they all lined up to do their worst
You were like water and quenched my needy thirst
I was held to burn from the hottest flame
But the possibilities were endless when I called your name

I was dead inside and it was easy to see
I needed you badly to breathe life back in me

I was hungry for existing like I fasting for lent
I didn’t need to eat because you were my only nourishment
To reach the safety of your arms was my only goal
So you leaned out to grab me and saved my very soul

I was dead inside and it was easy to see
I needed you badly to breathe life back in me

What more could I ask for today? It is a beautiful day the sun shining and birds singing. I am reading your poetry in which you share a little of yourself maybe without even realizing it you have written from your soul. Thank you for sharing your awesome poetry with us Kevin. Love, Carol
