I Need Not Seek the Praise of Men
I need not seek the praise of men
My Lord has shown me who I am;
Way back when I was pretty young
He was the friend that I leaned on.
I didn't understand it then;
Didn't really know he'd be my friend,
But I know that it was meant to be
Cause I didn't find Him, He found me.
He won my heart with His loving ways
He knew above all, that's what I craved
He saw my empty loveless life
At home with me, He knew my strive.
It pleased Him when He saw just how
Eagerly I was to bow
To His will and trust His Word
That I didn't just listen, I really heard.
That still small voice I learned to see
Came not from flesh but spiritually was borne to me.
And so I learned to wait on Him
And not succumb to human whim.
I fell in love with all He is
And all I am is surely His;
My friend, my lover, my everything
He is my Lord, He is my King.
