I blame John Prine and Willie for this one. And I’m kinda grateful. But you’d have to reside in between my ears to understand why. You should be thankful that that’s not where you reside.

“I Must Have Missed My Missing Years”

I must have missed my missing years I don’t recall.
 The past that you keep bringing up I don’t recollect at all
You must’ve been there in my missing years writing notes down on the wall
Tell all
Tell all
Use my past like a whipping post,
Go ahead,
Tell it all.
Was it smoke on the water or was it, onward through the fog?
I must have missed my missing years I don’t recall
.
When I looked in the mirror today I couldn’t believe what I saw
Something sure took a toll on me looks like I must have missed the ball. 
And I ain’t missing... my missing years at all
.
And I wonder if my missing years are what made me act this way
I can blame it on the missing years and lay On them all the blame.
I Just blame it on the missing years.
It’s  convenient,
When I look at it that way.  
I must have missed my missing years I don’t recall
But I ain’t missing my missing years at all.

Sometimes at night those missing years come whispering ...
in my ear
Love gone wrong unwritten songs
Shrouded ...
In ancient fears
Soaking tears
Missing years
I suppose..
Brought me here.
.
Dead things in the ground never grow
Unless they’re a seed & their dead and broken.
Only thru death is the seed 
Ever really opened.
 If I could look beyond the veil
What would it tell? 
What would I find would the missing years be there?
Would it be a sign?
In plain sight,
but out of mind?
Could it be that I’m being defined,
By the lost years,
Never really mine?
I must have missed my missing years I don’t recall
But the funny thing
About it all.
Sometimes I wonder
Did those missing years
Even really happen...
At all?
I must have missed my missing years I don’t recall.
And I ain’t missing my missing years at all.
