I Miss You and Will Ever Do
It was on the 21st August 2013 that I heard you whimpering in the corner of a tin shed,
As I paced ahead with bated breath,
I found you battling for life with face injuries and broken legs.
With no time to consider, I called for my father who was aghast at your sight,
In 2 minutes, I found you wrapped in a blanket with eyes full of fright,
But as I took you to my arms, the eyes were indicative of a new hope and life.
I must admit, you were brave,
You didn't run or scream when your under skin was shaved,
Thankfully you were saved!
Since then, my dull study room became a workshop for fun,
In playing and sneaking in the backyard, we were no.1,
God knows how and when my heart was won.
Dear one, happiness is like the flicker of a candle flame,
It is transitory with nobody to blame,
A year later, as I was out on the bazaar street,
You mischievously were walking away from me at a distance of 4 feet,
Since the house was out of supplies of your treats.
A motorbike in the red light was flashing towards us,
You yelped and pushed me away with a large thrust,
And turned into a soft toy with pool of blood.
I stood there trembling,
With strangers coming and consoling.
You gave up your life for me,
How could I ever explain?
That you didn't merely belong to Canidae,
But the family of altruism and nobility.
I did not accept what had happened,
Nor will I ever do,
You are there with me
Close to heart, like the strongest glue.
Each day witnesses many such innocent lives fade away,
Because they are either betrayed or thrown away
Some die in starvation or some sort of delay.
After he physically left me,
I have tried to make other such lives full of glee,
By sharing comfort and basic amenities.
I don’t want this world to so easily lose such angels,
Because of cruel and immature deeds some people do,
You can help stop this and save these lives, can’t you?
