I Miss You

I Miss You…

Why dd you have to go so far?
Couldn’t you have seen that which was near,
sustaining us with the richness of your life
instead of leaving us with a hollowness that
grips our entire body leaving it halved—
like the shell after the meat of the nut has been eaten—
Empty

What was it you wanted?
Did you have to ask the question instead of accepting
the answers all around you, drawing on them
to fulfill your unquenchable need to know—
staying awhile to sip and savor the drink at hand
instead of gulping down the nectar; leaving the glass—
Empty

What did you find?

Was it all you had hoped for; was it worth the sacrifice
Or did you suddenly realize that the want was in
the search and the search did not reward your curiosity,
looking and finding nothing to warrant the fact that you are—
Gone.
