I Love the Darkness

I love the darkness
It has always been my friend
It makes me feel
Like a kid again.

It takes me back
To days of my past
When my room was a stage
And I was the cast.

A princess I am
Dawning a crown
My covers pulled tight
They were my gown.

My imagination ran wild
Only dreams of a child.
A vision of a prince
I've never seen since.

The security of home
I was never alone.
These images of mine
I would simply rewind.

How grand to be a girl again
And make believe is my friend.
Brought to life in my mind
One frame at a time.

Ah yes, if we could only go back. Memories of a wonderful childhood captured so beautifully. I have them too. Guess we need to be thankful for that. Wonderful poetry. Love, Shar
