I Look To the Sky

The sky is so dark yet the stars are so bright
They are much like diamonds as they sparkle with delight
They lift my spirit and lighten the load
Even though the air outside seems hostile and cold.

When they shimmer they remind me very much of my hope
It feels like today that my fate isn't dangling from a rope.
It almost seems quite tempting to take that easy bait
But it gets larger than life and I simply can't wait...

A cold wind awakens me I've been gone way too long
So much feels different since you've been gone
I seem to hang in there for the glimpse of a better day
To just live my life and to do what I say...

All of a sudden the sun brings forth light to the sky
I see this big world so much larger than I
I know that I don't want to simply get by
So I find myself a reason to give it a try...

And then I just take a second to consider my fate
And pray that a second isn't a second too late.

What a beautiful week of posting and sharing of some amazing poetry. So happy to see your poetry among them Mark. May you find inspiration by reading some of the poetry written here by other poets also. Read and comment on their's and they will return in kind. Love, Carol
