Notes About The Poem
This is how I view my relationship with God. Nature and the natural order allows me to believe. ?
I Look to the Heavens
I Look to the Heavens
Kevin Davis 2024
I look to the heavens—what do you think I see?
The sun and the moon, gazing back at me.
They link me to the world and all its wonders,
watching the wind dance with leaves on tall trees.
I feel the gentle rhythm in nature’s ways,
the sun rising in the east, setting in the west.
How long this has been true, who can say?
Yet it has endured, and I know it will stay.
I look to the heavens—what do you think I see?
Eternity shining in the summer sky,
Soft white clouds that sometimes turn stormy,
bringing rain and thunder so the earth isn't dry.
Seasons transform the world from warm to cold,
Then creatures sleep and life renews in kind.
Sunrise and sunset in lands untold
give meaning to all, as life and time unwind.
So, I look to the heavens—what do you think I see?
The mighty hand of my higher power in all surrounding me.
