I Know You As I Know the Sea
I know you as I know the sea,
Even though we’ve yet to meet.
You are the other half of me
That has made of me, complete.
So I love again, and nightly so,
Though by slumber’s kindly will—
Where ere the light is soft and low
That bids the heart be still.
And in the mist, you there abide,
As about some heath, or more—
For you are the sea at eventide,
And I, the waiting shore!
