I Know What I Like

I KNOW WHAT I LIKE
I don’t know an awful lot about art But I do know what I like. When I see a painting of a horse I like it to look like a horse Of course. And grass isn’t blue and sheep aren’t purple, That’s certainly not what I like. When I see a picture of a wood I think the trees should look like – wood They should I don’t like paintings of women With eyes where their navel should be And legs growing out of their head. I mean – only hair should grow out of their head God said Yes, I like paintings to look like What they’re supposed to be If somebody painted a picture of me I want it to look exactly like – me You see? Though Rubens women were chubby, All their bits were correctly located And Constable’s hay cart Looked just like a – hay cart THAT’S ART 4th March 2019 Contest - Creativity in Visual Art Sponsor - Line Gauthier

Hi Bryn! I just laughed out loud for real when I read this one. It is just perfect in my book. I am an artist too and I totally agree with you. And, the way you added a short rhyme at the end of each verse is just great. Love it. Congrats on your win...and FAVED...of course, Horse.

Love the shoot-from-the-hip humor of your poem, Bryn. Bravo on your gold medal win.
