I Hope You Dance
Life can be like a beautiful ballet
Few will see the hard work behind it,
What you show is what others assay
The rules are exacting, never forget,
First, you think you have it mastered
Then, you realize you are never enough,
That your prized goals are blurred
You’ll admit living a good life is tough.
Life can be like a beautiful ballet
Those who cannot dance will criticize
They will insist you perform it their way
Keep in mind life is more than an exercise.
It is the real thing, your interpretations,
Finding your strength, playing your role
You can only live up to your expectations
Clinging to all that is within your control.
Life can be like a beautiful ballet
Ever moving gracefully toward a finale
Moving through the scenes every day
First, the mountain, then, the valley
Inevitably before the end, the climax
You will reach the peak of your success
Maintaining composure through attacks
You'll hear the applause, God will bless.
