I Hope That You'Re Somewhere
I hope that you're somewhere a daughter can find you
I hope that it's near enough, warm enough, sweeter
these nights I could handle with you as my candle
I hope that your laugh still leaves ripples behind you
so I can still feel them whenever it's raining
and follow the path that had always aligned you
with all mighty mothers with such mighty shoulders
and God, how the weight of it all can remind you
that motherhood dwells in the wings of the theater
with you as my candle these nights I could handle
I'll find my own light although no flame outshined you
