I heard my name By Suzan Satchell

I heard my name

I heard my name in my mother's prayer each day as she kneeled and prayed.
I heard my name in Mother's Prayer. such a beautiful prayer she said.
My mother's prayer is dear to me; it surely keeps me in check.
My mother's prayer will continue to guide my weary steps.
Dear mother, dear mother, your prayers are rooted in my breast.
Dear mother, dear mother I think your prayers are the best.
Dear mother, dear mother, your prayer I cannot forget.
I heard my name in my mother's prayer, and my heart was truly blessed.
I heard my name in my mother's prayer up to her last breath.
Dear mother, dear mother, you are surely the best.
I love to hear my mother's prayer because in it I heard my name.

Nice poem and I love the subject matter. I wonder if the last line should read "because in it I heard my name" because the cadence seems better? In any case, nice job.
