I Have To See You In Person For This
A student’s mother called my office for the fourth time this year.
She could not tell me what the problem is over the phone.
She is not allowed into the school due to Covid.
I told her she could come speak to me outside; I have morning duty.
She could not come then. She could come at eleven.
I have lunch duty every day at eleven.
I asked if she could tell me on the phone.
No, she could not.
I asked if she could tell me after school as I stand outside with kindergarten.
No. It could not wait that long.
This student has no issues that the teachers or I see,
but the little girl is convinced she has problems.
Her mother has taken her to a therapist.
What are your issues? I asked the child.
She has no idea except maybe she has "anxiety". She is eight.
I suspect Mother is the one who needs the therapist.
