I Have Moments When the Words
i have moments when the words
are failing me
or they are lost in some dimension
the screen is white
wanting to dance in a black medley
that becomes a concerto
as attention wanders in a beginning
i feel your hands on my shoulder
i close my eyes in ecstasy's touch
a light touch of lips
to the head
the blackening begins racing
in other moments, i am in sweet labor
where memory dances me in a vortex
a rapture of your presence behind me
quiet as a church mouse absorbed in prayer
i pause before the leap forward
look up to the window
black in the night
gathering in what the world sees
in the window's reflection
they see a room where i sit alone
and i am in a moment of sadness
the world is denied by the Thomas
your loving presence
God would never leave me alone
where you meander in every atom
this room can hold
muses are a human construct
the veil is real
and it sometimes gives way
the sweet breath of love waiting
as hands light upon my shoulder
a kiss brushes the crown of my head
where myth evaporates into reality
neither the demons below
nor the angels above
can ever deny me my beloved Lenore
God would never leave me alone
the veil ceases in every thought of you
hands upon my shoulders
my head falls backward into your lips
